About Galaxy Childcare
Galaxy Childcare was officially founded in 2020 by Finau and Kara Lologa, though their journey in early childhood education began years earlier. With deep experience in the industry, they set out to create centres where every child feels loved, valued, and empowered. What began in Papakura soon grew to Mahia, Half Moon Bay and East Tamaki, becoming four thriving centres that celebrate cultural diversity and nurture every child’s potential.
The Meaning Behind Our Name
We chose the name Galaxy for our Childcare Centre to reflect the vast and exciting world that every child is a part of—a world as big and full of wonder as the galaxy itself. Each child is like a star, full of potential, ready to shine brightly when supported with the right learning, experiences, and care. Our name represents our belief that with nurturing guidance, every child can light up their own path. The colours in our centre—yellow, red, and blue—symbolise this journey: yellow for the sun and light of learning, blue for the endless sky of possibilities, and red for the kaiako (teachers), who are the guiding force supporting each child as they grow and thrive.
Inspired by raising their own three boys—one with severe autism—Finau and Kara understood the need for spaces where all children can belong and thrive. Guided by Te Whāriki, their centres foster well-being, belonging, confidence, and curiosity in a supportive, inclusive environment.
From humble beginnings connecting with families door-to-door, Galaxy flourished through trust, word of mouth, and a dedicated team. Parents often return with multiple siblings, a testament to the strong community built over time. Alongside childcare, Galaxy gives back through scholarships, sponsorships, and community support. Today, it remains a safe, welcoming place where children can learn, play, and shine—reaching for the stars.
